Our luxurious recently built villa with heated pool and fabulous views on the hillside overlooking Salobrena, Costa Tropical de Granada. 

Salobreña on the Costa Tropical de Granada is just 45 minutes from the city of Granada and Andalucia's most famous historic attraction, the Alhambra. This largely undiscovered sub-tropical coastal area has some of the best views to be found anywhere and is still truly Spanish with a wide choice of excellent local restaurants and tapas bars. Salobreña  enjoys a true microclimate being both warmer in winter and cooler in mid summer than the Costa del Sol. It is in fact the warmest place in mainland Europe in mid winter yet only 70 minutes away are mainland Spain's highest mountains and the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada.  As well as skiing/snowboarding in the winter other sports and activities that can be enjoyed here all year round are tennis, golf, horse riding, scuba diving, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, mountain biking and walking/bird watching in the verdant valleys of the nearby Alpujarras. (Location map)  If you can picture how the Costa del Sol used to be before the hordes of foreign tourists and the building excesses of the seventies and eighties you will probably enjoy a holiday in Salobrena on the Costa Tropical de Granada. 

We came to Salobreña to live in 1988 with our 3 young children and since 1991 have enjoyed living in one of the first properties to be built on the hillside looking Salobreña.  Recently we decided to have another villa built for holiday rentals intending that the stunning views available from the favoured Monte de los Almendros residential area (1 km west of Salobreña) would remain a feature of every room. We are delighted with the result and if you take a look at the photos below you will see for yourself the open sea views that are available from all main rooms. There is even a great sea view when lying in the bath! And often dolphins can be seen playing in the sea below.  However there is more to "Las Vistas" than just wonderful views:

The layout of the villa has been carefully planned to maximise privacy and flexibility. There are 3 bedrooms (One double and two twins), and each is separated from the others. This makes it a particularly comfortable villa when there are two families sharing or perhaps if parents prefer a bit of peace and quiet! The principal bedroom (double) with en-suite bathroom (bath & walk in shower) is at the upper level together with the main living area. The other 2 twin-bedded rooms are downstairs located either side of a large 2nd sitting room & each has the use of its own shower room with wc. Both shower rooms can also be accessed without entering the bedrooms and one is very close to the pool terrace. The main living area comprises an open plan lounge/diner/kitchen which is particularly light and airy and has spectacular views. There is a guest toilet with wash basin close by. The lower lounge is where the satellite TV and a PC with wireless (can connect your own wi fi laptop if you wish) adsl broadband connection are installed and directly in front is a terrace with an electric sun awning. There is a lockable gate on the access to the pool from this terrace effectively preventing any young children playing in the lower lounge or terrace from gaining access to the pool terrace. (Under the pool terrace is a separate games room with a children's table tennis table and electronic darts board.) The pool terrace itself is very spacious with plenty of room for sunbathing and there one can enjoy the very last rays of sunshine with spectacular sunsets silhouetting the pretty ridge to the West. A few steps up from the pool is the main outdoor eating terrace which has views over the pool to the sea. Yet another terrace is situated on the east side of the main lounge/dining room. Ideal for breakfasts in the morning sun. (Perhaps we should have named the villa "Las Terrazas"!)

Las Vistas has very comfortable accommodation for 6 people both inside and out.  

Amongst the fixtures, fittings and amenities at the villa are a private heated swimming pool, (Guaranteed minimum 80ºF/27ºC all year round) conditioning to the main living area and main bedroom, digital satellite TV with all BBC tv & radio stations and the other free to air satellite channels, DVD player, PC with wi fi broadband connection & printer, portable music system, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, child's cot, Dyson vacuum cleaner, board games, Outdoor Chef gas barbecue,  six sun loungers, outdoor eating area with retractable sun awning  & comfortable seating for up to 8. And for winter use there is a Jotul wood burning stove in the main living room  and thermostatically controlled electric radiators for every bedroom. Telephone calls are charged at the actual costs of call charges so if the telephone is not used there is no charge. The adsl broadband connection is always available with no call charges.

The Monte de los Almendros community recreation area with 2 swimming pools, a hard tennis court and grassed small football pitch is just a few minutes walk from the villa. Access is free to our visitors.

Our swimming pool and plants are looked after by our friendly gardener Ramon. He will be about from time to time as necessary but will not be obtrusive. Fresh bed linen and indoor towels are provided each week. The property is very well equipped for a self catering villa  holiday and almost all of the furnishings and equipment are in as new condition.

We have been resident here in Spain since 1988 and provide a lot of info on local activities for our guests. We particularly enjoy walking in the hills above Las Vistas and in "Las Alpujarras" (foothills of the Sierra Nevada) and we make many day trips to the excellent snow skiing (just 70 mins by car from the villa). There are plenty of other activities in the area and there is a particularly good choice of excellent value local restaurants and tapas bars!

*Additional Electricity charge.  For winter evenings we provide thermostatically controlled electric radiators for all bedrooms and the air conditioning units can also produce warm air.  During this lowest rental period only electricity consumed will be charged at cost ( 0.10 euros per Kw)  

The swimming pool has a solar heating system and thermal cover and in winter we also heat the pool with an efficient electric heat pump on a separate meter. We make no additional charge for this and at all times of year the pool is guaranteed to be warm enough to swim comfortably (Minimum80ºF/27ºC).

* Winter discounts:  Also during the winter period discounts are available for longer stays: 3 weeks -10%, 4+ weeks -15%, 6+ weeks -20%. At these reduced rates fresh linen is not provided but a washing machine, tumble dryer and iron are!
